On April 22nd, the Earth Day is celebrated worldwide. It’s a day when we all come together to raise awareness about the need to protect our planet and conserve natural resources. For this reason, today we want to share with you some ideas that can help us all take care of our planet together.
IDEAS TO TAKE CARE OF THE PLANET
1. Join a beach or forest clean-up to help recycle plastics and trash left on the sand and fields.
2. Plant a tree. If that seems too complicated, don’t worry—you can always donate money to an organization so they can plant one for you.
3. Don’t waste water. Simple examples include turning off the tap while brushing your teeth or spending less time in the shower. It may seem small, but multiplied by millions or even billions of people worldwide, the water savings can be huge!
4. Use reusable cloth bags for shopping instead of plastic bags. Also try to stop using plastic straws. These two items make up a large percentage of trash polluting the world’s oceans.
5. Try to reduce buying single-use plastic bottles.
6. Shop at local farmers’ markets. These markets support local businesses and use far less plastic than big supermarkets. Plus, since products are mainly locally produced, they also help cut CO2 emissions thanks to shorter transportation distances.
7. Try to recycle as much as you can at home.
8. Don’t waste electricity. You can do this by turning off lights or unplugging electronic devices and appliances when you’re not using them.
9. Walk or bike. Cars and public transport are major polluters and significantly contribute to total greenhouse gas emissions. Plus, walking or biking is great for your health.
10. Switch from paper bills to emails. An electronic bill can save you time and money, and reduce paper demand—helping to lower the global deforestation rate.
Besides all this, there’s an even easier way to help protect our Mother Earth. Spread the word! The more people know about Earth Day and how they can help preserve our environment, the faster we can reduce pollution and achieve real, lasting change!
